by-tv.co.uk - UNITED KINGDOM - EUROPEAN UNION - Güneş Kaplan's first solo exhibition in London, “HIDDEN LIVES: What Memory Leaves Behind,” is at Gallery Marquess.
Güneş Kaplan's exhibition "HIDDEN LIVES," which focuses on the relationship between memory and space, opens on September 25th in London's Mayfair district.
Photographer and visual artist Güneş Kaplan is preparing to open her first solo exhibition in London. Titled “HIDDEN LIVES: What Memory Leaves Behind,” the exhibition will be on display at Gallery Marquess in Mayfair from September 25 to October 1, 2026.
The exhibition is curated by London-based independent curator İlayda Uzunarslan . The opening event will take place on September 25th between 6 PM and 9 PM.
It focuses on the traces left by memory and place.
“HIDDEN LIVES” brings together themes of memory, space, daily life, belonging, and the relationship between humans and their environment—all subjects Kaplan has long been working on— under the same exhibition umbrella.
In Kaplan's work, photography is not merely a tool for recording what is visible. The artist explores the traces left by time and experiences in spaces through architectural structures, coastlines, human figures, and everyday environments.
Kaplan, a graduate of the Sociology Department, incorporates her academic background as a key element of her artistic practice. While drawing on documentary observation, the artist uses photography to explore different layers of personal and collective memory.
Production dating back to 2011.
Kaplan's work shows similar questions resurfacing at different periods. “Hands Blending into Blue” (2011), “The Stone Remember I” (2013), “The Stone Remember II” (2014), “Shutter” (2018), “Traces of Burden” (2018), “Echoes of the Shore I” (2023), and “The Waiting I” (2024) are among the works from different periods of the artist's career.
The artist's photographic practice follows a production trajectory that seeks to make visible the relationship between people, space, and memory .
In Kaplan's work, the human figure is often considered not as a subject independent of its surroundings, but within the context of its environment. Stone, architectural surfaces, voids, and shores become elements bearing the traces of time and human experience.
International exhibitions in London and Tokyo.
Kaplan also participated in international group exhibitions in 2026. The artist exhibited “Parallel Traces” at Espacio Gallery and “Into the Fold” at The Holy Art Gallery in London, and “Eye of the Universe” at Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo . His works have also been exhibited at art fairs in Bodrum, Antalya, and Izmir in Turkey.
The artist is also a member of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and continues his work within the Antalya Photography Club (ANFOK).
It can be seen in Mayfair for a week.
As Kaplan's first solo exhibition in London, "HIDDEN LIVES" will allow viewers to see the artist's visual approaches developed in different periods within a single exhibition.
